Ergohome SIPs Research
Wins award again!
Background
Ergohome is sponsoring research at the University of Birmingham into the performance of SIPs. Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) are a modern composite building material; they can be used as primary building material in new sustainable buildings, contributing both structure and insulation in a single thickness. ErgoHome uses SIP panels in its construction. Notably the ErgoHome has a SIP floor, walls and roof thus ensuring adequate strength and high insulation on all 6 sides.

Award 23rd June 2011
The Institution of Structural Engineers has recognised the school of Civil Engineering at the University of Birmingham with an award for research into “Behaviour of Structural Insulated Panels under combined axial and transverse loadings ”. The IStructE has a long and respected reputation dating back to 1908, originally only for concrete, now their remit has now been expanded to all kinds of materials. Ground breaking and unique world-wide research findings will allow engineers to make better informed SIPs designs for complex structures that are subject to multiple loads. This award recognises the potential for SIPs to become a widely established and fully understood structural material.
