Tradition and Technology combined
The ErgoHome is a timber frame building built upon a steel chassis with external cladding including timber & aluminium components. Our timber frame system uses well-proven structural insulated panels (SIPs), timber is lightweight but strong and when combined with the sandwiched (CFC free) polyurethane foam creates a highly insulated envelope on all sides. The zinc-galvanized steel frame provides a robust base that allows the home to be positioned high enough to park vehicles underneath.
Steel is a readily recycled material that, once galvanised provides minimal maintenance for the 60-year design-life of the home. Aluminium used in the ErgoHome is over 90% recycled but in manufacture it does need a lot of energy, this negative aspect is offset by the relatively low weight used in each ErgoHome & the very low maintenance needed for this material over it's life. People who choose an ErgoHome will live in a timber frame house; the wood used has the lowest carbon footprint of any mainstream building material due to the FSC origin of the timber.
